We’re delighted to share that our Christmas Tree is now proudly on display at St Hildeburgh’s Parish Church in Hoylake as part of their much-loved Christmas Tree Festival. It’s a wonderful feeling to see all that hard work shining bright, especially knowing that our tree represents creativity, teamwork and community spirit at its very best.

This festive display is a joint project created by our residents at Abbeyfield Hoylake & West Kirby, alongside the children from Caroline’s Childminding and Trinity Childminding. From the very beginning, the focus was on bringing generations together, sharing ideas and enjoying the process just as much as the finished result. And we’re pleased to say, the tree looks absolutely fantastic.

The decorations were lovingly made during our weekly Knit and Natter sessions with Heather, as well as during crafting time with the children. Knitted paper chains, handmade details, and plenty of festive imagination came together stitch by stitch. These moments perfectly capture what life-enriching activities for older adults are all about, creativity with purpose, companionship and plenty of smiles along the way.
Working with the children added an extra layer of joy to the project. There was laughter, chatter and lots of encouragement as little hands and experienced ones worked side by side. It’s a lovely example of community-led care in Merseyside, where shared activities create meaningful connections and lasting memories for everyone involved.

For our residents, seeing their work displayed publicly brings a real sense of pride and achievement. It reinforces how supportive senior living in Wirral is not just about comfort and care, but about continuing to contribute, create and feel part of the wider community. For families and visitors, it offers peace of mind, knowing their loved ones are enjoying purposeful, social experiences in a homely environment for later life.
If you’re in Hoylake this weekend, do pop into St Hildeburgh’s Christmas Tree Festival to see the display for yourself. Be sure to check their Facebook page for opening times and entertainment… and don’t forget to vote for our tree while you’re there!
We’re incredibly proud of everyone who took part, from our talented residents to the wonderful children who helped bring the festive vision to life. It’s a true celebration of creativity, collaboration and Christmas cheer.
