We love any excuse for a good sing song but yesterday we had a proper reason to celebrate. It was Maureen’s birthday and what a lovely day it turned out to be.

The lounge was full of chatter and cheer as Andrew joined us for the afternoon. He brought plenty of great music and his usual friendly banter. There was singing, clapping, a bit of dancing and even some poetry that got everyone smiling. All the old favourites made an appearance and a few unexpected tunes too.

Later on, at teatime, we all tucked into a slice of birthday cake made by our wonderful chef Sarah. It looked beautiful and tasted even better. Not a crumb was left by the end.

Maureen was beaming from start to finish and honestly so were we.
This is what life looks like at Abbeyfield Lear House in West Kirby. Warm welcoming full of fun and always ready to celebrate together. Residential care should feel like home and here it really does.
