It’s Time to Celebrate: Abbeyfield Week Returns – and for a Fortnight!
Abbeyfield Week is back… but we’re doing things a little differently this time around.
Instead of one week of celebrations, we’re going all in with a full fortnight of fun from 9–22 June 2025. That’s two whole weeks to shine a light on what makes Abbeyfield Hoylake & West Kirby truly special – our people, our friendships and our shared sense of community.
This year, it’s all about connection. We’ll be celebrating the close bonds formed between residents, the fantastic team spirit shown by our staff and volunteers, and the warm links we share with the lovely folks of Hoylake, West Kirby and across the Wirral.
Expect heart-warming moments, big smiles and maybe even a bit of dancing. There’ll be plenty going on in our Residential Care Home – from creative sessions to garden gatherings, musical afternoons to quiet chats over tea. It’s all part of the adaptable care we’re proud to offer – rooted in kindness, fun and the very best in round the clock care.
And don’t worry – you won’t miss a thing. We’ll be posting photos, videos and updates throughout the fortnight so you can celebrate alongside us from wherever you are.
Let’s celebrate together – two wonderful weeks, countless special moments.

From day one, volunteers have been at the very core of what makes Abbeyfield so special. Since our founding in 1956, thousands of dedicated, caring individuals have generously given their time to support the older people who call Abbeyfield home.
It all began with Richard Carr-Gomm OBE, our founder and very first volunteer. His compassion and commitment laid the foundation for everything Abbeyfield stands for today – and his values still guide us in the 21st century.
Fast forward to now, and Abbeyfield has grown into a truly global community. We support thousands of residents across more than 500 houses in eight countries, offering a variety of living options tailored to individual needs – from residential care and nursing homes to sheltered housing and independent living.
Thanks to our incredible volunteers and staff, Abbeyfield is more than just a care home – it’s a place where people stay active, connected and fulfilled.
At Abbeyfield Hoylake & West Kirby, we see this every day. Whether it’s a friendly face popping in for a cuppa, someone helping with an activity or simply having a chat, volunteers continue to play a vital role in supporting community-centric living, adaptable care and the highest quality care possible.
This Abbeyfield Week, we’re proud to honour the legacy of our volunteers – past, present and future.
Whether you’re a family member, a friend or just someone who loves seeing what community-centric living looks like at its best – keep an eye on our page and join us in making this year’s Abbeyfield Week the most joyful one yet.
