Last month we were treated to not one but two fabulous afternoons with the wonderful Jess from Popcat’s Music Time Limited. She was joined by several other Popcats leaders from the local area. Many of our residents will recognise Jess from our popular Pamper Afternoons, and as always she brought her trademark warmth, energy and sparkle into every corner of Lear House.

From the moment the music started, the room lit up. There were sing-along classics, plenty of laughter and a rhythm that had everyone tapping their feet. Jess has a brilliant way of bringing people together. These sessions captured exactly what makes supportive senior living in Wirral so special. It’s not just about care, it’s about creating moments filled with joy, connection and shared experience.
As the music played, residents joined in with clapping, singing and even a bit of dancing. The atmosphere was full of smiles and good humour. Jess was encouraging everyone to take part in their own way. These are the moments that show the true value of life-enriching activities for older adults. Music lifts the spirits, sparks memories and gives residents the freedom to express themselves in a fun and relaxed setting.

The Popcats leaders added even more excitement to the sessions, bringing props, movement and plenty of playful interaction. It was a lovely example of how community-led care in Merseyside brings people of all ages and backgrounds together. Our residents felt included, supported and above all, entertained.

Jess’s visits always remind us why we work so hard to create a homely environment for later life at Abbeyfield Hoylake & West Kirby. When the music flows and the laughter fills the room, you can truly feel the strength of our community. These afternoons weren’t just activities, they were experiences that brought genuine joy and left everyone looking forward to the next time Jess and the Popcats team join us again.
As the last song came to an end and applause filled the room, one thing was clear. The sessions had brought out the best in everyone — friendship, fun and that wonderful Abbeyfield spirit. We are already excited for their next visit.
