Two Joyful Popcats Visits Filled with Music, Laughter and Bubbles

Last month was bursting with fun at Abbeyfield Hoylake & West Kirby, thanks to not one but two brilliant Popcats sessions that brought music, movement and plenty of smiles to Lear House. Popcat’s Music Time Limited is always a firm favourite with our residents, and these most recent visits were no exception.

The first session was led by the wonderful Jess, joined by several Popcats leaders from across the area. As soon as the music began, the room came alive with upbeat tunes, gentle dancing and lots of happy laughter. Jess has an amazing gift for encouraging everyone to join in, and the atmosphere was full of energy and joy. It was the perfect reminder of how these activities for older adults can spark connection and lift the spirits.

A little later in the month, we welcomed another fantastic Popcats session, this time with Caroline from Popcat’s Music Time Ltd in Prenton, along with the children from Caroline’s Childminding and Trinity Childminding. With little ones excitedly joining in the music and movement, the energy in the room was infectious. Bubbles floated through the air, residents clapped along and giggles echoed from every corner. These moments truly reflect what community-led care in Merseyside feels like, generations coming together in the most joyful way.

After all the singing and bubble-popping, the session ended with a peaceful reading time. Residents and children settled down with books, creating a lovely, calm moment that balanced the fun. It was a wonderful way to end a lively morning and a beautiful example of supportive senior living in Wirral, where social connection is encouraged in meaningful, heartwarming ways.

Both Popcats visits were filled with music, movement and more laughter than we could count. They highlight how our activity programme at Abbeyfield Hoylake & West Kirby brings joy to everyday life, offering residents a homely environment for later life where they can stay active, engaged and surrounded by friendship.

And now, with the Christmas season approaching, excitement is already building as we look forward to our festive Popcats session. If it’s anything like these last two, we know it will be full of sparkle, singing and warm holiday cheer.
