It’s not every day that Lear House turns into the Wild West, but that’s exactly what happened when we welcomed Jenna from Boogie Woogie Music, Movement & Memories for a fabulous cowboy-themed afternoon! With toe-tapping tunes, plenty of laughter and a bit of friendly competition, it was an unforgettable day that had everyone smiling from ear to ear.

From the moment the first note played, our lounge came alive with energy. Residents joined in clapping, singing and dancing along to a lively mix of country classics and old favourites. Jenna has a real knack for bringing music to life. Her sessions are full of rhythm, movement and fun, encouraging everyone to take part in their own way. For some, that meant getting up for a little dance, while others joined in from their seats, swaying and singing along. It was a wonderful showcase of life-enriching activities for older adults, bringing the joy of music and movement to every corner of the room.
What made the afternoon extra special was the teamwork. From cowboy hats to group dances, there was plenty of laughter as residents encouraged each other and shared stories about favourite songs and memories of local dance halls. At Abbeyfield Hoylake & West Kirby, we believe that day-to-day care with a personal touch means more than comfort and support. It’s about filling each day with meaningful, happy moments that lift the spirits and create lasting friendships.

To round off the session, Jenna brought along a collection of local memorabilia, sparking even more conversation and nostalgia. Photographs, posters and keepsakes from Wirral’s musical past reminded everyone of familiar places and times gone by, tying beautifully into our community’s story. It’s these thoughtful touches that make Jenna’s sessions so special, and why they’re always such a hit with our residents.
Afternoons like this truly embody supportive senior living in Wirral – full of laughter, movement and connection. They highlight how music and creativity can bring people together, offering a safe and social setting for ageing well while making life in our home vibrant and full of fun.

As the final song played and the last cowboy hats were tipped, the room was filled with applause, chatter and that unmistakable Abbeyfield warmth. For our residents, it wasn’t just an activity, it was an experience that reminded them of community, music and the power of shared joy.
A big thank you to Jenna for another brilliant session of Boogie Woogie Music, Movement & Memories, we can’t wait to see what theme she brings to Lear House next!
