If you heard whooping, cheering and the distant sound of a cowboy jig coming from West Kirby last month, chances are it was our Wild West themed afternoon at Abbeyfield Lear House. And let us tell you, it was a rootin’ tootin’ good time!
We saddled up for a brilliant session with the ever-fabulous Jenna from Boogie Woogie Music, Movement & Memories, who brought all the energy, music and fun we’ve come to know and love. Decked out in cowboy hats, boots and shirts, our residents were more than ready to get involved in an afternoon packed with toe-tapping tunes, dancing and plenty of belly laughs.
Jenna had us all up on our feet (or at least swaying in our seats) to a brilliant selection of country and western favourites, with a few classic crowd-pleasers thrown in for good measure. Whether you were clapping along to Johnny Cash or giggling your way through a line dance attempt, there was joy in every corner of the room.
It wasn’t just about the music either, there was a real sense of connection and community. These afternoons are such a valuable part of life at Abbeyfield Hoylake & West Kirby, bringing residents together in a way that’s both fun and meaningful. There’s something really special about seeing everyone let their hair down, share memories and enjoy some truly adaptable care that focuses on happiness as much as health.
