New block of Baby Boogie sessions

Wednesday mornings are back

There is a particular buzz around the place when a new block of Baby Boogie sessions begins, and this one is no exception.

Our Wednesday mornings with the babies and their carers started again on [DATE], and it was every bit as good as we hoped. Instruments came out, songs were sung, and the room filled with the very specific happy chaos that only a group of small babies can produce.

A warm welcome to some new faces

One of the nicest parts of starting a fresh block is meeting a new group of families.

We were delighted to welcome a number of babies and carers joining us for the first time, and just as pleased to see familiar faces coming back for another run of sessions. The returning families settle straight in, which helps the new ones relax, and by the end of the first morning everybody looked thoroughly at home.

From what we could see, the babies enjoyed it every bit as much as our residents did.

Why these sessions matter

Baby Boogie is one of our intergenerational sessions, which means it is designed for babies and older people to share rather than for one group to watch the other.

Our residents get the lift that comes with having babies in the building, along with the songs, the movement and the chance to be part of something lively. The babies get music, sensory play and early social contact in a setting where they are made a great fuss of. The carers get an hour of proper company, a hot drink and somewhere welcoming to bring their little one.

Everybody gains something, which is exactly how these sessions are meant to work.

Thank you to Jeanna and Connected Community Wellbeing CIC

A big thank you goes to Jeanna from Connected Community Wellbeing CIC, who prepares and delivers every one of these sessions.

The amount of work that goes in behind the scenes is easy to miss when a morning runs as smoothly as this one did. Jeanna plans the activities, brings the equipment, sets everything up and keeps babies, carers and residents all engaged at the same time, which is no small thing. We are very grateful for the care she puts into it.
