Why Everyone Looks Forward to Andrew and Marko’s Visits

Always a welcome visit

Some visitors need no introduction at Lear House, and Andrew and Marko are firmly in that category.

Whenever they are in the diary, there is a sense of anticipation around the home, and their latest afternoon with us was every bit as enjoyable as residents had hoped.

Music, readings and a bit of everything

What makes an afternoon with Andrew and Marko so special is the variety.

There was music and singing, of course, with plenty of familiar songs for everyone to join in with. There were readings too, which gave the afternoon a lovely change of pace between the livelier moments and offered something for residents who enjoy the spoken word as much as a good tune.

And when the music picked up, so did the dancing. Some residents were up on their feet, others kept time from their chairs, and everyone found their own way to be part of it.

Plenty of laughter

If there is one thing that sums up a visit from Andrew and Marko, it is laughter.

They have a gift for getting a room going, and the afternoon was full of jokes, banter and the kind of easy fun that leaves everybody in good spirits long after the session has finished. Laughter is one of the simplest and best things we can share, and it was in generous supply.

Why variety matters in our activities programme

Not every resident enjoys the same things, and a session that mixes music, readings, singing and dancing makes sure there is something for everyone.

A resident who might not want to sing may love hearing a poem read aloud. Someone who prefers to listen can still enjoy the atmosphere of a lively room. Offering different ways to take part is an important part of how we plan activities at Lear House, and visitors like Andrew and Marko make that easy.
