Superheroes, Sailors and Smiles with Jenna

At Abbeyfield Hoylake & West Kirby, we are always looking for creative ways to keep residents active, engaged and connected. Our two recent sessions with Jenna from Boogie Woogie Music, Movement & Memories did exactly that.

Our third Intergenerational Baby Boogie session was packed with fun and featured a fantastic superhero theme. Residents, babies and carers enjoyed a morning filled with music, movement and shared experiences. We created meaningful connections across generations. The session included a wonderful variety of songs, including the much-loved Singing in the Rain, which had everyone smiling and joining in.

Jenna has done an incredible job designing these sessions to ensure everyone feels included, regardless of age or ability. They are a fantastic example of community-led care in Merseyside, bringing people together in a way that supports wellbeing, confidence and companionship. The feedback from everyone involved has been overwhelmingly positive. The photos tell their own story about just how much these sessions are enjoyed.

The fun continued with another of Jenna’s popular afternoon visits, this time with a lively sailor theme. Residents enjoyed a wonderful selection of music, including some special requests Jenna provided a variety of props and equipment that encouraged gentle movement and participation.

These sessions are a brilliant example of life-enriching activities for older adults, combining music, exercise and social interaction within a safe and social setting for ageing well. Whether singing along, moving to the music or simply enjoying the atmosphere, everyone had the opportunity to take part in a way that felt comfortable and enjoyable.

At Lear House, activities like these form an important part of our day-to-day care with a personal touch. We help residents stay active, stimulated and socially connected. Jenna’s enthusiasm, creativity and ability to engage everyone make her visits a real highlight in our calendar.

We always love it when Jenna visits, and we are already looking forward to the next adventure.
