Thursday Knit and Natter with Heather

A Popular Weekly Tradition

Our Thursday morning Knit and Natter sessions with Heather are always very popular, and it’s easy to see why. Each week, a lovely group of our residents gathers together with their needles, wool and works-in-progress for a relaxed morning that’s as much about company and conversation as it is about the knitting itself.

Patient Guidance from Heather

Heather brings such warmth and patience to every session, whether she’s helping someone pick up a dropped stitch, teaching a new pattern, or simply sitting and chatting as the needles click away. For some of our ladies, knitting is a skill they’ve enjoyed for most of their lives; for others, it’s something they’ve picked up more recently and are still growing more confident with. Either way, there’s always a friendly face on hand to help, and no question is ever too small.

Showing Off Their Handiwork

Here are some of our ladies showing off what they’ve been knitting — from cosy scarves and blankets to smaller, fiddly projects that take real skill and concentration. The room is always full of colour, with balls of wool in every shade scattered across laps and tables, and finished pieces proudly held up and admired by the group.

The Natter is Just as Important

Of course, it’s not all about the knitting. The “natter” part of Knit and Natter is just as important, and just as popular! These sessions give our residents a wonderful chance to catch up, share stories, have a laugh and simply enjoy one another’s company over a cup of tea. It’s a lovely reminder that hobbies like knitting aren’t just about keeping busy — they’re about connection, friendship and a good gossip too. We can’t wait for next week’s session already!
