There are some activities that are good for the soul. Then there are activities that arealso good for someone on the other side of the world. Our regular Knit and Natter sessions with the wonderful Heather are firmly in that second, very special category.

Our residents have been busy knitting squares which are sewn together into the most gorgeous little bags. These bags will be packed into Christmas shoeboxes sent to children overseas. Hands busy in West Kirby, reaching hearts around the world.
The format is wonderfully simple. Residents gather, needles click, conversation flows, and the kind of easy, warm camaraderie develops that only comes from doing something enjoyable alongside people you care about. There’s laughter, there are stories, and there is a lot of very satisfying knitting.
There’s something so beautiful about crafting with purpose. The smiles, the laughter, and the nattering that fills the room every session remind us just why we love these afternoons so much.

Knitting is brilliant for keeping minds sharp and hands nimble. It’s the company and the conversation that really make it. Thanks as always to Heather for making every session so warm and wonderful.
For families exploring local care options for families in Wirral, activities like this help demonstrate the vibrant and engaging lifestyle available at Lear House. Alongside high-quality support and personalised care for older residents, we aim to create a safe and social setting for ageing well, where residents can continue enjoying hobbies, interests and new experiences.
