Intergenerational Smiles at Lear House

It has been another joyful week at Abbeyfield Hoylake & West Kirby, with two wonderful intergenerational sessions bringing together residents, babies and young children through music, movement and shared fun.

We recently held our second Intergenerational Baby Boogie session with Jenna from Boogie Woogie Music, Movement & Memories, and once again it was a fantastic experience for everyone involved. These sessions are becoming a much-loved part of our programme of life-enriching activities for older adults, helping to create meaningful connections between generations in a warm and welcoming environment.

It has been lovely watching residents, babies and carers getting to know one another, sharing smiles, laughter and special moments together. Sessions like these are a wonderful example of community-led care in Merseyside, supporting wellbeing, companionship and a genuine sense of belonging.

The fun continued yesterday afternoon with another fabulous Popcats session with Caroline, joined by the children from Caroline’s Childminding, Trinity Childminding and Carrie’s Tiney Home Nursery. The afternoon was filled with singing, dancing, bubbles and laughter, creating a lively and uplifting atmosphere that had everyone engaged and smiling.

To finish the session, everyone enjoyed some quieter time reading together, bringing a calm and thoughtful end to a fun-filled afternoon. These moments of shared storytelling and conversation are a lovely part of creating a homely environment for later life, where residents can enjoy meaningful experiences and gentle social interaction every day.

At Lear House, activities like these are an important part of supportive senior living in Wirral, helping residents stay connected, active and engaged through enjoyable shared experiences.
