A big thank you to Chris Pierce from the Wirral branch of the National Association of Retired Police Officers (NARPO), who came to talk to us at Lear House.

A career with plenty of variety
Chris has had a varied career in the police and worked across a number of different departments. Our residents really enjoyed hearing about his working life, from the roles he took on to the experiences that shaped his time in the force.

How policing has changed
Alongside his own story, Chris gave us a real insight into how policing has changed over the years. It was fascinating to look back at how things used to be done and to hear how the job has developed, and the talk sparked plenty of conversation and memories among our residents afterwards.

Bringing the community into Lear House
Visits like this are a highlight of our activities programme. Welcoming guest speakers from the local community gives residents the chance to learn something new, share their own memories and enjoy a good chat over a cup of tea. You can read about more of our recent visitors in Meeting The Owl Man and Mark Birch’s visit.
Thank you again, Chris, for giving up your time to visit us. We hope to welcome you back soon.
