It’s a busy time of year for the ladies in our Knit and Natter group at Lear House, with needles clicking away on not one but two festive projects!

Knitted gifts for children around the world
Throughout the year, our Knit and Natter group makes items such as bags and headbands, which are given to Teams4U to be included in their Christmas boxes for children around the world.
Teams4U is a charity based in Llay, near Wrexham, that runs an annual Christmas Shoebox Appeal, sending boxes of practical items and small gifts to vulnerable children and families overseas. Recent appeals have reached children in countries including Ukraine, Moldova, Georgia, Bosnia and Romania.
We added a sweet finishing touch, packing little bags of sweets to go inside our knitted bags. It’s lovely to think of the smiles they’ll bring when they’re opened on the other side of the world.

Snowmen taking shape
At the moment, the group is also busy knitting snowmen for the Christmas Tree Festival in December, and they’re really starting to take shape! We can’t wait to see them all finished and on display. Keep an eye out for an update nearer the time.

A special thank you to Sue
Everyone in the group would like to say a big thank you to Audrey’s daughter, Sue, for the beautiful knitting bags she made for each of them. They really are very much appreciated, and they’re already being put to good use!

Crafting with a purpose
Knit and Natter is one of the most popular groups at Lear House, combining good company, a chat and a cuppa with some seriously impressive handiwork. You can read about another of the group’s projects in the Knit and Natter garland.
