Abbeyfield Hoylake & West Kirby is hiring for multiple positions across its Hoylake and West Kirby homes, offering rewarding roles within a friendly, supportive residential care environment.

The children from Carrie's Tiney Home Nursery visited Lear House for a morning of singing, storytelling and shared laughter across the generations.

The singing carries down the corridor, there is a burst of laughter between songs, and by the time you walk through the door someone is already up on their feet. That is exactly how it went when Sandra Currie came back to spend the afternoon with us.

Waltzing, hand jiving, singing and percussion. Caroline from Popcats Music Time returned to Lear House for another fabulous Music and Movement session, and our residents had a wonderful time.

Last Friday afternoon we welcomed Dominga Devitt for A Trip Down Memory Lane, and what a nostalgic session it turned out to be. The theme this time was television advertising, and by the end of it we had covered decades of adverts, jingles and characters that most of us had not thought about in years.

There are some visitors who need no introduction, and Andrew and Marko are firmly on that list. They were back with us again this week for another afternoon of music, dancing and poetry, and once again they had the whole room joining in from the very first song.

There are some mornings at Lear House that have a rhythm all of their own, and Thursday is one of them. That is when Heather arrives for Knit and Natter, and the lounge fills with the gentle click of needles, the rustle of wool being wound, and the sort of easy conversation that only happens when everyone's hands are busy.

Free, fully funded Boogie Baby intergenerational music and sensory play sessions return to Abbeyfield Seafield House in West Kirby every Wednesday from 9 September to 21 October 2026. Just 11 places each week.

We started off with some gentle seated exercises that everybody could join in with, moved on to a round of quiz questions that had the whole room thinking (and a fair bit of friendly debate along the way), and finished up with a proper party atmosphere. Music playing, hands clapping, toes tapping and smiles all round.

The 64 N'Ukes returned to Lear House for another afternoon of fabulous music, laughter and audience participation, and they are already booked to come back later in the year.

There was music, there was singing, there were smiles all round — and plenty of dancing too. Mark has a real gift for getting everyone involved, and it wasn't long before residents were up on their feet and joining in.

Music, poetry, and dancing — another wonderful visit from our favourites, Andrew and Marko. We enjoyed a great range of music and poetry, and of course there was dancing too! These afternoons are always such a treat, and we can't wait for the next one.

The Owl Man returned to Lear House last week, bringing back firm favourites Sam and Pablo, alongside newcomers Faith and Hope — and a very special guest, Chrissy the skunk.
